When the artist becomes superfluous
Technology has progressively separated artworks from the people who create them. From recording to digital production and generative AI, the artist's physical presence has become increasingly distant from the work. Perhaps the most radical consequence is not that machines become artists, but that we gradually learn to experience art without needing one.
